It sounds to me like McVay is giving equal blame to himself and Goff.

Half this board thinks that McVay should have started with a different run-centric gameplan or adjusted early when he saw Goff struggling. The other half focus most on Goff's failures under pressure as a 5 year vet.

Both camps are right! And you can pretty much hear McVay saying that in the podcast.

When he says he needs to put his players in a better position to succeed, I hear him admitting that he failed to properly account for his players', and specifically Goff's' weaknesses. My guess is he's also referring to his failure to have a gameplan designed to attack Miami's biggest weakness in defending the run.

And when he said the OL did great, that they prepared for everything they saw, and the QB needs to know his hot routes, he's clearly pointing the finger at his QB in a way I haven't seen him do before.

Honestly, I think we can stop debating this. It's not either/or. They're both to blame and it's clear McVay is aware of this. I hope he can address his issues. They'll evaluate Goff at the end of the season.
