I agree.....Bears are not very good and the "We just beat up on a 5-1 team with an top whatever defense" is not saying a whole lot. I was not impressed with them in any facet last night.
The Rams took it to that D and maybe that's why you weren't "impressed"--the Rams dismantled a good D. I don't know why that reaction leads to "they're not good" v. "Rams did well against a good defense."
The week before they beat Carolina. Measuring by qb rating, that was Bridgewater's worst game of the year: 50.4. In his other 6 games he averaged 107.2.
The week before that they beat Tampa. By qb rating, it was one of Brady's worst games of 2020: 86.7. In his other 6 games he averaged 105.36
2 weeks before Tampa they beat Atlanta. Qb rating again, one of Ryan's worst games of 2020: 67.7. In his other 6 games he averaged 103.9.
So maybe watching other Chicago games, you would have gotten a different impression of their defense. That defense did not do so well against the Rams.
Which, objectively, means credit to the Rams.....
But again, Carolina didn't have arguable the best player in the league playing. Tampa didn't have their stud 2nd WR and Gronk wasn't in shape yet. Atlanta didn't have arguably the best WR in football in the lineup. So maybe, Chicago isn't as good as their record this year and they've been facing opposing offense when they were far from 100%. Look at the teams they've shut down and look at what the Rams did--the only healthy good offense they've faced. And the Rams aren't exactly hitting on all cylinders lately. We all know how good the offense looks when it's clicking and I don't think anyone here would honestly say that that's what we've seen the last two weeks. But we still rolled over the Bears.
