Your speaking of how food is prepared. I give you there may be the "proper" way to "prepare" Beef Stroganoff . However, if my wife and I go to a restaurant and order the same Beef Stroganoff and I say I like it and she says I don't, isn't that simply a matter of taste? Simply put, do you believe there is an "expert" than can come over to the table and tell us which one is right? I don't like Peanut butter ice cream but my wife does. Is there an "expert" around who can say one of us is wrong in either liking or disliking peanut butter ice cream? It's just taste.
The context of your question/argument goes something like this
"Who is Paul Lukas to rate uniforms--isn't it just a matter of taste"?
My responses is, sure, but those who a keen interest in a subject, a proven expert
knows more and has a larger breadth of knowlege (i.e. the way to cook, etc---Lukas posts on fads, fabrics, patches, the whole gammit)
is someone top be respected.
You don't have to agree, that is where taste comes in, but my opjection was people attacked him and tried to 'ad-homenim' it saying
he wasn't any more qualified to judge than they were.
I disagreed. I think his opinion, based on his expertise, is worthy of consideration whether people agree or not, just like a great cook
who says this is a good stew. You don't like it. You are not allowed to say he's not a great cook. All you can say is you don't like the dish.
People here attcked him because they didn't like his opinion. I defended his right to opine on two levels, (1) any of us have an opinion and (2) his opinion
unlike 100% of us, is based on some skill attainded through seriious study.
THAT is the difference
Further, when his opinion is echoed by maybe a dozen other writers/polls, to me it created an avalanche of data that shows it's not a well-received
design by Nike/Demoff.
Well, that just ticked some people off.
So, people, a couple, anyway, have asked why I think Lukas is a cool read, and someone who is reasonably serious.
Yes, you can go into a fine men's clotheir and see a $150 tie that you hate but someone else loves. But, in my view cou cannot say that
Ralph Laren is a bad tie designer and people here were saying Lukas was a bad tie designer.
Now if you go into a store and year after year a designer is making weird clothes and they are faddish rather than classic or sharp in some one
and it happens again and again, then, you might be able to say that is a bad designer---Ralph Laren now suck when maybe he used to be great.
That is what has happened with Rams. Nike came in in 2012 or 2013, and how many teams have not altered their uniforms after the five-year period?
Seattle and Vikings, all the others have changes something as soon as they could. That tells me that Nike is not doing good when Browns, Jags, Bucs, all reverted back to traditional designs. And Miami changed the stupid numerals, so there is another failure.
Then, I see Chargers, with awesome uniform that by their reports they did themselves (no Nike) and it just blows up---is the #1 or #2 uniform in many of those same polls and then I see Rams at 22, 25, 28, 31, 32, 16 of 16 NFC teams----it confims my eye---that Rams blew it.
I don't even think it's debatable at this point, Even those who really like it--they are so few in number and the acrimony as evidenced here, on a hard core ram board proves Demoof blew it.
It's just not even a close call, IMO
