ok so i didnt mean YOU specifically i meant the collective You. i apologize for the confusion.
in term of a mistake i just dont see it. lets use a little math. if 100 40+ fans stop being fans because they dont like the uniforms (although i havent heard anyone say they will no longer be fans), but you gain 100 20 year old fans because of the new uniforms you will likely have a net gain of more fan years with the new uniforms (lets not get into life expectancy etc). you may feel disrespected but i think its smart business. if you dont think so thats ok, but business is about making money, and you simply cant make everyone happy. plus the old jersey you like arnt going anywhere. you can buy them and wear them anytime you want. further i think your/our opinons do matter, hence the homage to the old colors.
yes im saying a social media poll is a complete waste of time to get the answers you want. they are biased in a variety of ways the most notable of which for our purposes is age. kids are not "voting" on facebook or other news media sites. those things are for "old people". they obviously are also biased toward people who can afford computers and internet access, as well as people who access the sites conducting the polls. you may not want to believe it, but i would be shocked if kd did not use more sophisticated techniques in his assessment. i also believe he expected the backlash from the older fans.
I see your points PHD. I just don't agree and that's ok. I think your math analogy is flawed based on your own admission of "(although i havent heard anyone say they will no longer be fans)". I don't think any 40+ fans will stop being fans and you also have no idea how long the 20+ fans will stay fans.
I will also add that wouldn't there be as many new 20+ fans if they just tweaked the Ferragamo's? Do you think a simple " modern tweak" wouldn't have been enough to win the 20+ over? Would there be more new 20+ fans by totally redesigning the uni? I don't think there is a way to tell that.
I think a lot of us are upset with the way this was over thought to the point of almost being silly. Fibonacci Sequence? Ocean wave? Color of the sunset and sandy beaches? The "stitch"? None of those things say "Rams". In fact the neutering of the helmet horn says the opposite. IMO, it actually takes away from Rams tradition.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
