Not quite my point

Suh-weet!
But I think it's most likely that the RAMS think Blythe is better than Allen. And, FWIW, that matters much more to ME than what a scout says (scouts disagree ALL the time) or what PFF says.

because teams get things wrong, too. And just cheering for the ole' team spirit doesn't mean much. As I posted, in 1999 Ranms an Hanifan wanted to keep Wiegert because Hanny liked him...but were presented too much evidence that Timmeman was better value.

So, while sure, teams get things, right, the can ALSO get things wrong

Therefore, Rams prefering Blythe doesn't prove much when there are lots of examples that can be pointed to about teams, coaches, team scouts being wrong.

With your logic, Justin Smith and G_Rob should have been stars. Teams make errors at the top of roster and bottom of roster.

So, I will take the word of my eyes, solid contact with scout firm, and PFF....

heck I wonder if Rams had not have kept bringing in old, worn out guys like Weddle and Matthews if we wouldn't have been in playoffs last year. Weddle, especially (smart, experience) was no help. A younger guy with speed--maybe Rapp at FS would have been better...

spaking of Ram errors how much is Gurley costing us in cap space? That;s another exmaple of maybe Rams brass is fallible at times

Allen > Blythe with 1 caveat, if Allen is healthy

Certainly, teams get things wrong. (Though I think there're much less likely to get things wrong in choosing between players they've seen in NFL practice and games many times than guys they've only watched in college.)

I'm simply saying that on the issue of Blythe v. Allen I feel much more comfortable going with the judgment of THIS particular set of Rams' decisionmakers than with yours/any-number-of-fans//PFF's/a-veteran-scout's. You could be right! Maybe Allen will be cut and prove himself the much better player at some point, but... I doubt it. I don't have a strong personal feeling either way, but, FWIW, if I had to choose one or the other on the basis of what I've seen I'd also go w/Blythe.

Austin Blythe expects to be Rams' starting center this season

RamBill561July 28, 2020 10:35AM

If so, Allen will likely be gone.

RockRam222July 28, 2020 10:45AM

Blythe must have naked pics of OL coach

Show me PFF Grade on Blythe for Center Only.

den-the-coach186July 28, 2020 11:32AM

It's more than that: in general Olines and Olinemen get better with time

RockRam180July 28, 2020 11:40AM

Sure, buy Hav regressed, and Whit is getting old

JimYoungblood53176July 28, 2020 12:43PM

Havs did regress. But the issue is why?

RockRam163July 29, 2020 06:33AM

  I don't know why

JimYoungblood53143July 29, 2020 08:44AM

True. But I don't think cutting Havs would offer much cap help

RockRam143July 29, 2020 09:02AM

I agree, cut him when it makes sense, not before

2018 is not 2019, that was then, this is now.

Hav’s play at RT might dictate the starters at both OG positions...

Edwards is a lock at one guard

ferragamo79155July 29, 2020 12:28PM

As much as I like Edwards at guard, I still think he would be better at Tackle
