This is not new and has been obviously discussed already, but the point here is that even if its not about the money (of course it is a little, even if you get "creative" it will likely eat up all remaining space), its about the roster spot. If you sign him, its a short term addition (1 year deal, or a 2 year spread that is really a 1 year deal), so which of your young linemen are you going to let go? Assuming you are going to sneak someone on to the practice squad and keep them for a year there is a big "if".
