I used to just accept the idea that a vet would take young guys under their arm and train them up.
Not from what I hear. Actually, players like Whitworth that take a real interest in helping the young guys isn't the norm. The take I hear more often is that the coaches are to mentor and train the players...... not the players. These guys are all fighting for their jobs and paychecks and few are so secure, and have such a sense of duty as to want to show his replacement how it's done.
I know nothing about Warford. If he is a good player who would noticeably improve our line, great. But the idea that he would come to mentor the young guys I think is pie in the sky.
