Why didn’t McVay even attempt to use Gourley more last year? It certainly wasn’t all on the o line that he wasn’t used more. Why the Cloak and dagger comments from the team about Gourley and his performance or lack of use each week? Why the cover for him? The oline play was poor, but how and why did Gourley disappear if it wasn’t an injury affecting him. McVay and the team kept it all very close to the vest, but fooled no one come game time. I saw a player who could break off a nice run if he had a good hole just like most average backs in the NFL can, just not one who would take it to the house like Gourley could up until the playoffs in 2018. There is so much more to this story. We’ll know a lot more as and if this season gets underway.
Who said it wasn't an injury affecting him ? There is nothing more to the story. You don't cut a Todd Gurley if he's perfectly healthy.
Exactly. Both of you IMO are right. There was something bothering Gurley and hampering his play, and it wasn''t an "injury"...it just looks, like many have said, that he had an arthritic condition that could flare up at times.
The video not mentioning that possibility at all made it seem incomplete and poorly thought out.
