If the Rams really don't need bodies they will focus on the second option I mentioned.
If they trade down and get an extra pick they will bundle that extra pick with one they already have to move up for a guy that they would otherwise miss out on. And do it without gambling AT ALL.
Step 1: trade #52 for #55 and #150. (The draft value chart says the Rams gave up 380 points and got back 380.2) This can't be stressed enough: you don't trade back from #52 to #55
unless you have at least 4 guys at that you would be equally happy picking at #52. That ensures that you take no risk trading back. In other words, you don't gamble!!!
Step 2: pick a guy at #55 that you legitimately would have been happy with at #52.
Step 3: Suppose NE is on the clock at #98. There's a guy the Rams want, they think maybe the Giants will take him at #99. So they call NE and propose a trade: #104 and #150 for #98. NE looks at their board and see that they have 8 or 9 guys they they like equally as well so they make the trade. (The draft value chart says the Rams gave up 111.2 points and got back 108)
Step 4: pick the guy they want at #98 rather than have him go to the Giants.
