70,000 people die annually from the flu.
26,000 from covid 19?
I love olfactory glands. But do we cancel a season because of this?
It hasn't been "annually" for covid-19 yet. It has been 7 weeks. And that's with a lockdown. (And unlike the flu, evidence so far is that covid-19 doesn't have a season.)
Plus, and here is the very important distinction that separates covid-19 from the flu: with the flu, you are contagious when you are symptomatic. With covid-19, you can be contagious while without symptoms. Asymptomatic transmission is an especially big problem. That plus covid-19 is far more transmissible. The numbers on the flu indicate that every infected person will infect another 1.3 people. With covid-19, the most recent studies are saying that number may be as high as 5.7.
Allen did not develop the severe symptoms which require a respirator. Read stories about what being that sick from covid-19 is like. There are plenty of stories out there.
