It was just some thinking out loud.
I agree with the thought process that they move back in the 2nd. Unless someone special drops to them.
DT/DE is a big need yet, the starters are SJD - Robinson - AD with Gaines backing up Robinson and Smart backing up AD and SJD? And thats it. Morgan Fox will also be back, so that helps.
Edge is a mess:
Floyd - never lived up to his draft status
Ebukam - shows flashes, but he's better in a rotation
Obo - injured and has seemingly never caught up, its sink or swim for him this year
Polite - 1st round talent with a UDFA head, on his seemingly 3rd and final team. I love his talent, can he put it together? He was being talked about being drafted as high as 15th overall if I recall.
Jeff Holland - a dog, a serious try hard that lacks the athletic ability to get after the QB with any consistency. He can play the run though.
Floyd is a starter, so its a mad scramble for the other spot. I want one in the first 2 picks. And my list is about 4 or 5 guys long.
OL is strange. It seems like with Allen and resigning Blythe and trading for Corbett, they have 3 guys that could be the starting OC, yet I don't like any of them. Not to mention they signed Coleman Shelton to a futures contract. So what are they doing with the OC spot? It feels like they don't have a clue.
As far as LG, I don't like Corbett or Noteboom there. But can a rookie 4th rounder beat out Noteboom? Esp without rookie camps and maybe even parts of fall camp. So why waste the depleted draft capital?
The Rams obviously think the run game is important. They have said everything starts with the run game, they paid Gurley, and they drafted Henderson. Hendo isn't a feature back, but more of a back by committee guy. So they almost have to do something. Brown is meh at best and always injured when you need him. So that leads me to the draft.
The 3rd round IMO is no mans land for a RB, I think 1 or 2 go towards the end of 1st into the early 2nd. 3 more in the 2nd and maybe 1 in the 3rd, then it picks up again in the 4th-6th rounds. So you either grab on early, or grab one late.
Or grab a FA on a 1 year deal to span the bridge to 2021. It fits with my reset year theory. If you buy into that. Dion Lewis or Freeman should do the trick.
