I look forward to this every year

Technically, Weddle won't be cut, his 2nd year option just won't be picked up. Either way, I agree wholeheartedly. And I loved the signing last year. We will know by March 17th if his option is picked up FYI.

Havenstein - I hate selling low. And that is what you would be doing with Havs. That being said, if you could trade him for a bag of buffalo flavored Synders of Hanover pretzel bits I would jump all over that. First, he is a bad fit, secondly, he is overpaid and lastly he is a possible blockade to Evans. its very possible my dislike for Havs as a football player since the day the Rams drafted him is showing thru, but I hope like heck they can trade him.

You absolutely nailed the resigns. Agree on Whits contract. I don't like the resigning of Blythe, but I think it happens, and I think he is a cheap resign. And you cannot underestimate the value of continuity. And if Blythe comes back as the OC, that means you are bring back 4/5 of your line from the end of last year. And I know what some of you are going to say. The line was awful and 4/5 returning is not fixing. True, but then you better not be in the camp that loves all these bold moves the Rams are making trading for Cooks, and trading for Ramsey, trading for Peters. Because a lack of draft picks and cap space means you can only fix so much in 1 offseason, and that DL/LB grouping is going to need the most work. Just like DZ said in the last line of his post.

Players let go: I sure hope Greg is resigned. Kicking has been so bad in the league the past few years, and a good kicker is just hard to come by. I know he had a down year, but man. That would be sad to see him go. Beyond that, I won't miss any of the others.

Free Agents:

Thuney - I have no issues with Thuney, I'm just concerned they have the money (or want to devote the money) to a LG. It would be a great signing. I still think a guy like Xavier Sua-Filo, who is stuck behind good OGs in Dallas, would be a sneaky good signing that could be done on the cheap and brings a nice blend of experience and value. Or a Joe Haeg type.

I see no scenario where Rivera lets Scherff go if he can help it at all. He is already trying to mend the fence with Trent Williams. But man, he would be exactly what the doctor ordered. If he can stay healthy.

I agree on the draft. I think if it plays out how you think it will, it becomes a front 7 heavy draft with some RB/TE/OC depth thrown in.

Really well thought out and realistic stuff here. I love it. My favorite stuff to read.
