But if on game night for the Baltimore game and his arthritis flares up before the game and you continue to run him 25 times don't you see how that can and likely will impact his abilities for the Arizona, Seattle, and Dallas games ? Truth is this is not an either or issue. Simply put, it isn't 1) he's done and can't be effective so lets admit it or 2) he's back to his old self and lets run the daylights out of him. It will be game to game-something not easy for us fans cause we need a PLAN-use him or not.
W, near as we can tell from the reports we get, T
G's arthritic condition is unlikely to flare up to the point where he can't play without the pounding of running the ball and/or contact (hits, tackles).NOTHING indicates it just does it on its own without that.
This may be a case where your own medical condition, which is likely very different from HIS, is kind of misleading you.
Plus there's the actual logic of the situation. He has been available all but one game (and the missing game came from a deep thigh contusion). Yet he has been, till now, on a strict "pitch count" so to speak. That means he was good to go for 10 games without once leaving because of the knee, AND they were keeping his carries down deliberately. This was apparently to save him from possible wear and tear and so it seems, to save him for the 2nd half of the season.
Your scenario, as you describe it, does not add up as a description of Gurley.
There is no indication whatsoever that they are worried about a spontaneous flare-up just happening out of nowhere, or that he decides on game day whether he can play. Rather, all the indications point to them regulating his carries for about half the season, saving him from the kind of pounding that might cause a flare-up.
