Looking at his snap counts, it sure seems like TG's lack of usage is more play calling than lack of playing time. Kinda hard to believe but TG played 41 snaps against the Bears Sunday night and he played 57 snaps against the Steelers the week before.
Hopefully McVay has learned his lesson and will continue to give TG opportunities while being on the field for over 70% of the plays.
I think they planned this and deliberately saved him from wear and tear on that knee.
Now it's the 2nd half of the season. I didn't think this till the Chicago game but now they are able to use him more.
I don't think it's misguided at all ... what else are you going to do to save the guy from his knee issues?
The lesson to be learned is, don't let your 2 starting OTs regress at the start of the season.
