i said he *can* look like a bottom 5 QB when he misses wide open receivers by 10 yards.
And he can.
He'll in fact he does.
Not saying he is a bad QB.
I think my post was clear.
But he does occasionally look horrible.
Not he's a great QB throwing a bad pass horrible.
More concerning than that.
I hope you're taunting me for years to come due to my poor judgment because I'm a tad concerned.
I didn't see much of that at all yesterday, but like I said, show me a game where a QB never missed a throw.....I know KW went like 28/32 one time but that is a rarity.
I saw Brady throw a pass right to a Browns player in the end zone yesterday, but luckily he's a Brown so he dropped it. .... point is, even the GOAT in his 20th year will throw a WTF throw now and then
Where has anyone suggested that Goff should never miss a throw?
Goff is getting really close to defining who he is more than looking forward to potential and upside. And he's struggling with consistency. As far as yesterday's game, the end stat line was nice enough but I think there were many instances of Goff playing down to an 0-7 team. I counted 3 dropped interceptions by the Bengals and one of those was dropped by 3 different players! Kupp tore up the Bengals secondary and he and Goff were really taking advantage of their hapless group. But there were also more than a couple of those passes that were ill-advised even though they turned out well.
Just because a receiver makes a play for you doesn't mean it was a good decision to throw into double/triple/quadruple coverage. So, IMO, inconsistency and stubbornness have both presented themselves as continually issues for Goff. He's still young and growing through not having a scheme that the league hasn't figured out but he also hasn't shown that he can play well against mid to good defenses when conditions aren't ideal.
I've long been unimpressed by Rodgers in Green Bay but having taken the time to watch him a little more, it's more clear why he is so revered. Talk about not having much to work with on offense but still carrying your team. It's nice that Goff didn't actually struggle against the Bungles or the Falcons as that would have been downright problematic but up until that point, he was one of the worst rated QB's this year who struggled with production and consistency. That we have to praise him for putting up 2TD and 0 INT in this day and age of passing sort of says something in and of itself, doesn't it? That he still couldn't complete 60% of his passes against such a poor team is a concern IMO.
Being down with Darnold, Dalton, Allen, etc. in completion percentage is concerning for a supposedly elite QB. Still struggling with it against two of the worst teams in the league makes it even more so. No one's asking for perfection from him, but the concerns about him are valid.
