I see a really good player who is prepared mentally like no other. He knows football. His learning curve is much smaller. It’s what makes him a better WR than Reynolds who is athletically more gifted.
I see a player who is an obscene scheme fit as the slot/z WR is this offense. Much in the way that Hakim was impossible as the Z for the GSOT Rams. Although they are nightmares for different reasons.
My guess is he can be a really good #2 although I do wonder if his lack of speed and quickness would limit him on the outside. I think the way we will know that for sure is if he has to play there (Woods/Cooks) are hurt. The thing is I don’t know that McVay would even move him outside even then because his game really seems to be more suited for the slot.
What I absolutely love about Kupp is how friggin smart he is. It’s just rare that 3rd round WRs come in and can play immediately like he did. I also love that he is a better athlete than you think. His ability to break tackles has really gotten my attention.
There are so many special WRs in this league. I wouldn’t use that to describe Kupp. Not just yet anyhow
