1 - understood but you have two 1200+ receivers, an emerging 3rd WR in Reynolds, Todd Gurley, a QB that almost universally the board says is elite but only needs experience, and a coach who is an offensive genius. If all of those things are true it seems to me there is room to consider moving Kupp if it means we add a quality edge rusher.
2 - yes Kupp is a perfect fit in that 3rd WR role in this offense as it currently exists. I think there are some changes coming.
3 - ok

Yeah. I didn’t say they should
I said if they considered trading anyone Kupp would get you more
I am a little surprised that a team that includes McVay, Gurley, Woods, Cooks, and Jared Goff who everyone seems to think it is only youth that is keeping him from being elite would be opposed to moving Kupp if it meant improving another area of the team like edge rusher
For example - let’s say Kupp could be traded for a #1 and get the Rams back into the middle of the 1st round. You wouldn’t do that? Now according to RamUK Kupp is worth more than a 2 which I believe is his trade ceiling. But let’s say you could get a #1. You wouldn’t consider that trade? Given the Rams other offensive weapons?
Now the truth is none of this is going to happen. Your not getting a 1 for him and the Rams aren’t trading Kupp anyhow but what I find interesting is the level of consternation at the suggestion that he might be a good trade option on a team that is loaded with offensive weapons.
I do think that the Rams will be running fewer 3 WR sets next year anyhow. Seems to me schematically and personnel wise changes should and will be coming.
Talk to me guys
Well, I can’t speak for UK, but here’s my take.
1. I am categorically opposed to weakening a position of strength (WR) to get a pick that is statistically only 50-30% likely to be successful at a position of weakness.
2. There is a significant drop off from Kupp to Reynolds, IMO. So there would be an overall weakening at WR.
3. We have other options to improve our edge position. Draft, trade, or FA are all realistic paths to an edge upgrade.
We agree that this Kupp trade isn’t gonna happen and that you’re just spitballing.
I’m a great fan of trades to improve our team, and I think Snead’s particularly good at them. But Kupp is on my personal short list of core players around which this team is gonna continue to be built. As such, he is virtually untradeable.
