I am more caught up on my lists this year than most years ... and Im pretty solid in who I want and where I plan on drafting them ...
I think we cut Barron, Joyner and Fowler and Suh walk and we reap the compensatory benefits. Peters and Talib stay. Mannion goes back to his full time job as a mannequin in an abandoned mall.
I think we try to keep CJ, Malcolm walks.
I am scared of losing Saffold.
I have Kiser taking over at MLB.
I see Woods taking Kupp's role for the beginning of the year.
We trade out of the 1st round and get an extra 3rd ... I can't see my edge guys being there at 31 (Sweat is my 4th and I believe he's gone) ... and the next batch is down near 50.
I'm having some issues at safety because of how crazy they are being graded.
2) Austin Bryant, DE/Rush LB Clemson ... 6-5 255 ... I watch him and think he's 240 max because he's twitchy and agile. I don't want average at edge. I don't want a good game here or there. I want someone to have to scheme for an outside presence at the same time they need to watch for Donald. Fowler is not that guy. Neither is Obo or Ebu.
3) Safety. If Jaquon Johnson is here like is being predicted, that's a steal. But Im happy with Mike Edwards (who will be graded here after the combine) from Kentucky as well. Both are smaller, quick footed hitters that can cover. John Johnson tackles so well that I don't feel the need for a big hitter here. Also, nose for ball. If Johnson is gone I could take a higher D line player.
3) Elgton Jenkins or Garrett Bradbury ... OC. I want another BIG kid on the interior. One should be there.
3) Rypien. I want a confident, accurate, smart backup that can operate the offense.
4) Greg Gaines DT. I think his fall is a mistake, and I think he's a crazy value here. He's 6-3 315 and can really move and agitate an O linemen. He reminds me of Kevin Wolfe, but quicker and more agile.
5) TE ... Tommy Sweeney would be my choice for our 3rd TE. He plays angry and has big hands. He can really block.
6) CB Jordan Brown SD State 6-1 205 ... Draft and train.
7) Rennel Wren 5 Tech ... 6-6 295 AZ st. I think he doesn't stand out, and maybe he's just a body for fodder ... but I can't ignore his length and strength.
7) Sliding WR ... There is so much talent at the position this year that there will be someone here. Im gonna go Keesean Johnson Fresno State.
Priority UDFA
David Long LB West Virginia. 6-0 222 ... why he falls. I don't care. He's got the fastest first step in the draft for a diagnosing LB. I think Lavonte David clone. But he's a tad smaller. ST beast ...
Jordan Miller CB Washington ... overlooked in the tandem.
Mark Mclaurin Safety Mississippi state. Again, overlooked ...
This is where I'm at right now. I could likely be persuaded to go DT in the 1st if Dex Lawrence falls. And the wild card is Jeffery Simmons. He's an all pro that just tore his ACL. If we resign Suh we can afford to redshirt a DT. If not it's gonna be tough to justify.
There is a lot of talent and many will slide and go undrafted.
