I can't re-watch the game and likely never will....but I saw it live. It was bad. That is where I fault Jared.....but I honestly think he is coached into that....McVay hasn't completely embraces a West Coast offense.
To jemach's point, we need to involve the TE's in this offense.....and we also need to mix in an Hback or FB.
McVay's offense is structured for the QB to read deep to shallow. McVay has even said this before.
My issue isn't with Goff always looking for the deep ball. It's with not going through the progressions. If the deep ball isn't there you move on to the next option.
And in a case where you know Cooks is covered by an all pro CB and Woods is being double teamed, you should probably get down to that Reynolds crossing route progression pretty quick.
Reynolds was wide open in the middle several times. This is why I'm not sure that jemach's point about involving the TE's will change anything.
I honestly think that main things necessary for the offense to take the next step against tough defenses is mostly for the QB and HC to continue growing.
