Unless you get the NFL to change the rules of the game
Because you need 10 yards to get a first down. When you are getting lots of 1 yards, 2 yards runs and it is 3rd and 7 and you end up punting. You can't run because you don't have the ball or the play opportunities to run.
So what most people don't realize it isn't an option to keep running, unless they can get the NFL league to change the rules on 10 yards in 3 downs.
So the options are:
1) Run it and punt it
2) Pass it, get first downs, and mix in a few runs
Like the Dallas game....You still need to mix in the run and pass. Even if you are getting 1 or 2 yards per carry. Our pass offense can consistently compensate for 3rd and 6, 7, or 8.
