The Rams have almost $100M in cap space in 2020, 15th highest in the league - pretty much middle of the pack.
They have 26 players under contract. 10 teams have more than 26 guys signed: they all have less cap space than the Rams. 16 teams have fewer than 26 guys signed: 5 of them have less cap space than the Rams. And 5 other teams also have 26 guys: 2 of them have less cap space than the Rams.
Among the guys under contract are:
Donald
Gurley
Cooks
Barron
Woods
Robey-Coleman
Hekker
Kupp
The Rams will pick up Goff's 5th year option so he'll eat up $25M or so, leaving around $75M.
I hope the Rams extend Peters so I'll account for him, too. Right now Josh Norman is the highest paid CB: $75M for 5 years. Assuming a 10% raise Peters would get $82M for 5 years. Norman's cap hit in his first year was $8M: based on that I'll use a $9M number for Peters.
That leaves the Rams with $66M. (There are currently 10 teams with less cap space than that ... and 5 of them have 26 or fewer players under contract.)
With these numbers the Rams top 8 cap hits would total $113.725M. That accounts for just under 57% of their cap - a typical distribution in today's NFL. (Donald $25M, Goff $25M, Gurley $17.25M, Cooks $16.8M, Barron $9M, Peters $9M, Woods $7.175M, Robey-Coleman $4.5M)
