That is so wrong. Gurley is what made the offense tick last year. He was Goff's security blanket. Goff would have NEVER had the season he did without Todd Gurley...who was clearly the MVP on offense for this team.
And you're saying Hav, Saffold and JB are a priority over Gurley? Not a chance.
This is not an easy one to figure IMO.
Yes Gurley was the offense last year but then that was with a 2nd year qb in Goff. I figure if Goff keeps progressing (which in my eyes is likely) then the offense could become his. And at that point yes you can get good production out of good backs who are not Gurley-level superstars. Of which yes there is always an abundance. So it gets down to a little paradox...yes Gurley is worth 16 M, but is a running back worth 16 M? Last year in the league there were around 20 backs who met this description: they had both 150 or more carries and 4.0 or more a carry. It just seems to me that the stereotype is true--you can find backs in the draft and they don't have to be superstars.
