I get the feeling there's something amiss. McVay nearly stopped using Austin as the season progressed. I think he would prefer players who fit in his system instead of creating wrinkles in the offense. And who can argue with the results?
I hope Austin gets traded mostly in hopes that a good OC actually use him. And maybe that's not possible. But to watch him waste away on the roster because he doesn't fit in just isn't something I want to watch. What I would really like to see is Austin stay, be used properly (if there is such a thing, and there is evidence to support that) and watch him directly contribute to the offensive production. But I don't think that will happen. I think he'll be traded or if not, he'll ride the bench.
If Tavon wants to be productive in the Rams offense, he had better perfect his route running... which is, I believe the tone McVay is taking publicly with Austin. Sometimes when you have skills you don't need the insane work ethic... sometimes I wonder if that's Austin's deal.
