quite rare! imo
or maybe not I haven't researched the QB avg....but it looks like it's middle of the road or less.Maybe it's cuz, as you say, he's
Tom Brady. isn't Brees on there too? I dunno but there are a few QBs that could get waay more and do not cuz they realize the big picture....the team picture. However, many other QBs don't seem to wanna follow suite
and do what he does. They go for all they can get.
Which is fine & expected. But Brady...being great or not
is taking
less money...and that appears to be unique...even with all the QBs knowing that...they still want the most money they can get. Most players do that and it's good and in their self interest.
Btw, I think the only reason we fans like when a player takes less is a completely selfish one - well, team selfish, it means that our team has money to hire more or better players...or spread the wealth and make a bigger middle class/possibly keeping the team together longer. Fans want their team to be good and don't quite care about the singular player making millions more...they just want their team to have good talent.Good talent, when it's acquired,
is kept thru having room in the salary cap.
So, in a game where cap dollars directly affects a team's ability to gather/keep talent on yer roster...
and the best QB/player in the NFL taking a mid/lower QB rate..is kinda rare and
DOES matter a great deal, actually. imo
And yep...it's all just opinion....but that's why we post!
Brees gets 25 M which is more or less what you would expect from a guy of his caliber who is also way past his 2nd contract.
I don't think that 3-4 M difference either way from a qb means they're team is better or they get something.
I honestly think that's just mythifying.
The myth is that you can afford "another guy" to help win and all that but really? Neither Brees nor Brady are going to put their team over the top OR sink themn, because they take 3-4 M less, or take 3-4 M more. They win because they are Brees and Brady.
That's honestly how I see it.
