Some reporter came on (sorry missed his name, working on draft stuff, maybe Wyche,) but he came out and said the Rams are trying to maximize their window while they have a pro bowl QB under cheap control. ME: That leads me to believe a 3 year window? I agree, but I hear so much about how the cap rising will allow the Rams to get most of the BIG guys signed. Well the cap has been rising every year and it continues to get mishandled IMO and the Rams continue to lose good young players.
Then they went on to say something about this is why they are collecting all this talent now, for the short and longterm plan. I either had a stroke and missed how it works for the longterm or I am just missing it. I hope someone will correct me on this part. Long term is beyond 5 years isn't it? I don't see a nucleus of young players that will be here beyond 5 years. No young talent on the rise in their rookie contracts beyond Goff and Donald.
either way, I thought it was interesting. He also doesn't seem to think Cooks will cost more then Watkins. Which is strange if Cooks is better? Here is where I think its an apples to oranges comparison for Sammy got paid in free agency where players tend to get overpaid. There is no way IMO that Cooks should be at $16M per. IF they have to go in that range it was a failed experiment IMO..
