A. Gonzalez in an interview the other day said McVay REALLY wanted to retain Watkins and pushed hard for that to happen until the very bitter end.
He left the impression that McVay feels there will be a big void from losing Watkins. And then today, the article talks about how McVay longingly spoke of Watkins and how they will miss him.
I think for his offense to function the way he wants it to, he NEEDS the dynamic deep threat or as you call it Decoy Man.
It's McVay's offense; he would know what's needed.
