no they are not the Patriots, I get that, but roster turnover is constant in the NFL
build through the draft: Goff, Gurley, Brockers, Joyner, Kupp, Johnson, Donald, etc
add difference makers through trade/free agency Peters, Suh
add solid free agents/Trades Woods, Sullivan, Talib
Suh is just turned 31.....he is not ancient...I looked, most pro bowlers are turning 29/30 at that position...one year, if it is a disaster,
get a 3rd rounder.....if it works he extends, or at least makes a significant difference
Talib is now a #2 corner, so the age 32 means nothing. One of the best in the league, decent price. Could draft a corner, but they have other needs.
Nice to pick up a pro bowl corner for cheap.
Shields really, he is going to be 4th or 5th corner, so he is icing if he works, but not the end of the world for low cost contract.
Patriots pick up vet pieces all the time: Allen, Bennett, Dillion, Moss, Revis....do it every year. Its ok to get a avet peice for a few years and then add another vet piece when he leaves.
When you have a HOF coach and HOF qb you can incur failures if the fail better than others.
The Rams with a second year coach and 3rd year unproven qb...don't even register in this comp Gamo.
The Patriots pickups for the most part have been failures, but they have the most important positions in place.
Best,
