Maybe, just maybe, Wade does something we've never seen before.
the 46 defense goes back to the 1950s, but Buddy Ryan updated it in the early 1980s and when he got some dominant players it worked like a charm.
As far as something we've neve seen? Well, unless you want to play something that is not gap sound it's not likely. There is a lot more innovations in coverages than there are in fronts. The reason? NFL rules stipulate there have to be five offensive linemen and as such the defensive line has to line in relative to them, so there are limited number of places guys like Donald and Suh could line up.
I think what is more likely is that when Suh signs with either the Rams or Titans (both 3-4 teams) they will be trying to fit a square peg into a round hole because both teams have good players at the position that Suh's skill set matches and they will have to move him to a different spot, which is possible, he can do it, but can he be great at it with declining skills and as he gets older.
