I agree Woods was a great find by Mcvay, The Rams evaluated Woods and saw a player that fit the scheme, and even though the statistics weren't there, they signed him. Those same evaluators have had a close look at Watkins over this last year in their system. They know what he can do, know his ceiling and what he added to that offense. I’m confident they know his true value to the TEAM. At this point we know the Rams didn’t offer Waklins enough. Watkins and his agent belive he’s worth more. Certainly he was a high draft pick, but his career stastics are not that and I have heard all kinds of excuses why. He’s been in the league four years so some weight must be given to them. Based on the Woods find (as well as Kupp) I know the Rams evaluations of talent look at much more than draft position and stastics. Agents and egos are never that objective. If someone over pays he’ll sign ( I would too). I believe some team will and he’s already gone. But I also believe that the McVay regime has evaluated the talent on the team, the receivers they can acquire by draft, free agency or trade and that was factored into the offer. Replacement cost is known. Personally I’d like him back, he’s solid and a known quality. We all fear the unknown, but if not I trust McVay in filling the opening.
