But is it true?
I don't know about for the rest of the league but for Snead, those type of safeties do seem to grow on trees.
McLeod
Joyner
JJ III
That's 3 safeties in 4 years who can all cover very well.
Contrast that to the last time the Rams had a WR with Sammy's skill set.
I'm sorry but WR's with elite skill sets are more rare than safeties who can cover.
If that safety skill set was that rare OR the safety position was as important as WR, those guys would be paid more than WRs. The franchise tag wouldn't have been $11M; it would have been $16M like it is for WR.
So... either the skill set is not as rare as they're saying OR the position itself is not as important. Pick your poison.
I keep hearing about "skill set" and comparisons to Bruce and Holt???
When has Sammy EVER put up Bruce and Holt like numbers???
He was ranked anywhere from a high of about 18th to a low of 63rd last year in WR rankings and Joyner was in top 5 in most.
This isn't about skill sets, this is about actually play on the field ...not potential.
It is why the Rams ( the people with a wealth of knowledge of the situation ) went with Joyner as the
must haveYou think they did it just to piss you guys off?!!
It's done, it's over ....lets stop arguing about it.
We all can agree this team would be better if we could keep Sammy, you don't have to tear down Joyner to prove it.
