Somehow he seems to have been elevated to superstar status, but without the superstar production.
Check out his career stats. [

Are those superstar numbers? Seriously?
I think most of the discussion here has centered on Watkins being Tier 2 WR status - not superstar - based on his elite skill set and production.
I've posted this several times with no response from you but since you love numbers, tell me, what's the difference between his career numbers and Davante Adams?
For me it’s simple, dz.
If Watkins wants to be paid like a superstar, he needs to show superstar results. So far, he hasn’t come close.
Joyner played at near elite level last year and got an elite level franchise tag salary. I’ve got zero problem with that. Just so you know that I’m not inclined to be stingy when players earn their big payday.
I remain comfortable that S&M will find and sign a FA at WR if Watkins walks. I’m still drawing the line at an arbitrary $10 million for Watkins, and that’s giving him $3 million for his perceived “potential” that everybody raves about. He can take it or leave it, I don’t really care.
I’m fine with agreeing to disagree on this, if you like. Neither of us is gonna change the mind of the other on this topic, anyway.
We’ll soon see how the Rams feel about this. I will support whatever decision they make (but I don’t promise to like it, lol).
