I agree there will be a FA pick up at OLB. It most likely will be Barwin to another one year deal.
It was telling to me when McVay mentioned him by name the other day as to who were the strong leaders in the locker room that made them feel comfortable trading for Peters. I'm not that excited about Barwin but I think that's the way the Rams are leaning.
I'd also watch Trent Murphy from Washington. McVay is familiar with him and he was good rushing the passer prior to his injury. A short term prove it contract will likely work for him.
I don't know that Rams see ILB as a need. We'll have to see what they do with Barron. If he isn't cut, that indicates they have no interest in an ILB.
I doubt they can afford 2 namebrand outside FAs.
Even with Quinn gone.
Not if they are going to sign the Big 3.
....
Do you see Trent Murphy or Barwin as namebrand FA signings?
Barwin isn't, which struck me as obvious and "goes without saying"-ish.
But I wasn't commenting on your statements or claims. Just jumping in.
Did you make the mistake of thinking I was arguing specifically with what you said as opposed to what I really did, which was just to dive into the topic with my own 2 cents?
Just chatting.
I count Barwin among their own potential lower tier re-signings, which includes UFAs and ERFAs and RFAs like Longacre and Sullivan etc.
Murphy is an interesting prospect though...I doubt he would be a top name tier FA, it looks like he would be more like Barwin was last year. 3-4 M area. The thing about Murphy is, he played for Joe Barry last year.
