You can win it all with a great back in your backfield. Insinuating that because the Patriots don't have a great back it's not necessary is ridiculous.
The more appropriate question with TG is whether to pay him when he reaches the contract impasse stage of things, and in that case there's a lot of reason to avoid what the Steelers have going on with Leveon Bell. I would strongly consider trading him after this season, for that reason, or just let him play out his option year and walk on to wherever he wants and recoup the round 3 pick for him.
From this point forward IF the Rams load their defense up and get it to elite level, everything's going to be fine. For purposes of elevating this team to a championship I believe that's the most important element.
