Two things occur to me.
First, there is only one “must have” on this team. Jared Goff. All others, including even Gurley and AD, are not absolutely necessary in order to win games.
But, having said that, what team would not want to retain elite players on it’s roster? Such players occasionally can take over games. They’re fun to watch and the fans fall in love with them. Such things have further value to a team beyond mere W/L records.
Speaking as a fan, I know that such players don’t come along every year and they don’t last nearly as long as one wishes. When such players fall into one’s lap, one should just enjoy their good fortune and enjoy the ride.
Memories from Deacon and Merlin, to Youngblood, to Faulk and Warner are priceless, don’t you think? Gurley and AD are certainly adding to those Ram memories.
