Very possible. Since Whitworth is there next year my main concern is improving depth. I'm not a fan of Williams. Maybe the coaches are. But I think taking an OT in the 4th-6th rounds can't hurt and then maybe what they do is go all in finding an OT in the 1st or 2nd round next year. I agree that odds of finding a (future) starting interior OL after 2nd round are much higher than OT. In the longer run they need that too.

If there happens to be a LT who's a top 20 player who is sitting there at #23 for them I could understand taking him. Right now I just lean toward a CB or front seven defensive player.

See to me there's no downside to taking a left OT this year at 23 and getting CBs in lower rounds. The odds favor that working better than the other way around. If your first year LOT sits for a season, fine with me--quality depth. Meanwhile 2 CBs the Rams already have, Hill and Peterson, are at least good depth, and they were both UDFAs. You can probably find at most 1 quality starting LOT in the last decade who started out as a UDFA.

They can keep plugging away at building the defense this season and the next because they have some quality pieces in place already to build around.

Go without an at least decent LOT and the offense just stalls. Whitworth is not only older, you have to ask what if he is injured. Spending a #1 to ensure both a future at the position and quality depth in the meanwhile strikes me as win/win.

Snead and company have stocked this team with DBs for a few years now, all without a first round pick in the mix. I would assume that the combo of Phillips and Snead will find more of them. With LOT, there's no such thing as "finding more of them." You get one and if you're lucky he stays healthy. They're much more rare animals.

If you were McVay and Snead, what off season moves would you make?
