I would keep Sullivan another year while drafting two OL. Maybe not with their 1st round pick- though you never know who will fall into your lap- but an OT and interior OL somewhere in their top 5 selections.
I pulled up all the OTS taken in the 3rd round and after from 2006-2015 (but not to the present, so that clearer judgments were possible).
It's more than 100. Out of those, I saw 4 starting caliber LOTs. 4 in 10 years. The hit rate was 3-something percent. (I could be more exact by looking back at old posts but really, you don't need to be much more exact...the point is pretty clear.)
It just seems to me there's nothing counter-intuitive about that. As a rule, if you want a good starting left OT, you take one in the 1st 2 rounds.
All the others on that list of 100+ who were any good played either guard or ROT in the NFL. The odds suggest that if you try to draft a left OT after round 2, really, what you're getting is a guard. If he is any good in the first place.
