My 2-cents:
WR: I have no feeling about Watkins. He seems to be a little like Britt without the baggage: tons of talent, mind isn't in the game. As a deep threat target we can probably fill that role with Reynolds or Thomas if he wants too much money. It is, however, time to move-on from Tav-on.
TE: I'm willing to roll with who we have and hope they develop. We invested a # and a 4 in Everett & Higbee. I don't want to draft to replace them yet. I don't see much hope for the often injured Hemmingway but I do think Carrier might have a future.
OL: Draft an LT to develop at #1. I'm no draft guru, but this seems like a good year for LT's. I don't think the prospects are as good after round 1. We all saw what happened when we upgraded our LT, I don't want to back slide when Whitworth retires or shows his age. Bringing back Sullivan seems like a no-brainer. We could do better than Havenstein, but he's the least of our worries.
CB: I'm taking a CB with our 3rd round pick. I think the combo of an LT @ #1 and a CB @ #3 is more viable than the other way around. Webster is possibly done. However, put me in the category of people who think we will re-sign Tru. He comes from Stockton and likely has family there, I think he'll want to stay in the area. After scoring two big contracts I can't imagine he'll ask for a bank busting deal. What he'll want is guaranteed money and security for the next 4 years. $10-11 mil a year would probably do it, and save us cap space.
DL: We need a NT in the worst way, especially since we're light in the middle. Keep an eye on Redskins free agents Phil Taylor and/or Montori Hughes. Give Donald his new contract, he's earned it.
LB: Someone has to go to sign these players and my choice is spunky, but undersized LB Mark Barron. (Saving $7-$9 million) Ogletree's contract says he stays at least one more year. Along side him I'm signing Redskins ILB Mason Foster. Yes, he's recovering from a torn Labrum, but he's a solid 3-down ILB and I think we could get him for a decent number. (Like $2.5 mil.) As a west coast boy from the Monterey area he'd likely welcome the chance to come home. I'd like to see if Quinn will rework his contract, I want to keep him, but not at his cap number.
There you go, problems solved.
