His star RB sacrificed the rushing title and possible MVP award for it. His team suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of their most hated rival for it. No reward for that sacrifice will mean McVay screwed up. The Rams are decided favorites going into that game. It's a given the Rams should win that game. If they don't, his strategy going into it will be rightfully scrutinized and criticized.
That article had been posted here and commented on already. It's not a relevant nor a valid analysis with respect to what the Rams did and are doing. They didn't have a bye week to begin with and comparing playoff competition and home winning percentages to regular season completion and home winning percentages is a terribly flawed methodology.
His "team" suffered a humiliating defeat? His "team" was on the bench. Well most of it was lol. IMO, that loss hardly reflects the team that played the previous 15 weeks. It was not the same team. Not even close. It more reflected on our "depth" IMO.
IMO, the rest was like giving them a much needed bye week. We had several players nursing injuries and they needed that rest. What if Gurley got the rushing title but got injured ala Shady McCoy with the Bills? As you said: "his strategy going into it will be rightfully scrutinized and criticized." If Gurley, Woods or Whitworth would have played and been injured in that meaningless game he would have been criticized as well. Damned if you do....damned if you don't. There will always be someone to blame or critique. Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda.
Guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one.
Gooo Rams!!
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
