For me the perspective is clear: McVay made exactly the right choice to give the Rams the greatest chance to win this next weekend. Whether they do or not is another issue.
While you seem to have made up your mind that results can't and won't change it, I'm waiting to see how McVay's decision actually plays out. If the Rams come out and lay an egg next Saturday, then McVay will clearly have gotten it wrong. The Falcons are a team the Rams should definitely beat at home based on what we saw during the first 16 weeks of the 17 week season.
On the other hand, if the Rams come out and look sharp and better for McVay's strategy, they'll win convincingly and all praise for doing the right thing will be due McVay.
I keep hearing if the Rams lose next week it will be because of sitting the starters. What if they lose because Atlanta just flat out outplays them? IMO, if they do lose, it does not mean it was because they rested the starters..it might be...but IMO there is no way to tell why. I would think that this time of year resting a week before a playoff game (a home game at that) would be beneficial. Especially when you have a few important players either nursing injuries and/or are older players. JMO.

#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
