Goff did great no question. He did great in the history of 2nd year quarterbacks, yes Wentz did a bit better but they both had 2 of the best years ever for 2nd year QB's. What a great QB draft.
It is funny to me that even most of the so called professionals got Goff wrong coming into the year. These so called pros completely missed the fact that Goff was so very young, that he was coming from a spread offense and was being poorly coached in a repressive offensive system. Let's face it nobody could have succeeded under Fisher as Bradford, Keenem, Foles and now Goff have all done much better not being handcuffed by Fisher.
Despite all the negative factors facing Goff in his first year there were plenty of signs that things were going to change but it took the so called professionals 5 games or so into the season to recognize that. McVay was of interest to the because he was so young and articulate but did they really think he was the QB whisperer he turned out to be. They like that we got the LT but still were critical of the offensive line. They only thought that Woods was overpaid and a 2nd WR at best. They were even down on Gurley who suffered under Fisher too. The gave no credit to the new offensive system though even they knew it would be better than Fishers. No they criticized Goff and even today give him little of the credit for leading one of the top offenses in Football. In fact they still underrate Goff who had a great year and got better as the year progressed.
It just shows that you should not judge first year players to quickly. It shows that talent will eventually come out. It shows that it takes time for a young QB to succeed. It shows how important good coaching and a good offensive scheme are for success. It shows how important it is for a QB to have good talent surrounding him. This year all the arrows were pointing up and Goff did Great. But the best is yet to come. His body is still maturing and his knowledge of the game is growing in leaps and bounds. He will be better next year you can be sure of it for he is a really good leader and a hard worker with an enormous amount of God given talent.
So to the naysayers rejoice in being wrong and remember you still have Greg Robinson to console you.
