Would brag to anyone that would listen that he'd put together a lot of talent and under Fisher the Rams would be a good team. Ya, right. But these guys aren't the only ones. Sasha is saying the same things about the Browns. He stocked a teams with good guys and they just need "direction". It's a common mantra from ex-coaches and GMs. Lots of good players out there. You have to be, this is the NFL.
I don't put much stock in the hindsight "We built that team" bs. As we all know, it's not just the players on the squad, it's how they are assembled and directed. People have been stating the obvious on some of this for years- The Rams D Line is stocked with 1st round draft picks and are beasts. But the MOB Squad was a huge letdown last year (see the Miami game...). And their undisciplined play was often the reason for losses. Sorry guy, that's coaching. Turning a number one pick over to Rob Boras was a huge, huge mistake and it didn't take Rocket Scientists to see it coming. He can talk about how they saw Goff's talent all along, but it doesn't really amount to much when you feed that to the wolves, does it?
It only further serves to point out what McVay and staff have accomplished here. Demoff came out at the end of last year and stated the obvious, we weren't in rebuild mode. They just needed someone to take the ingredients on the table and cook good food. McVay and company have done just that. And despite some of the props McGinnis gives our Staff, he sells it short. What Coach did during that time-out last week is why this Team is good. The attitude this crew carries around now is the story. The accountability they hold themselves to is what should be talked about. Last year, when things went south on the D, you could see the finger pointing and animosity from them. That's gone now. That's not the players, that's the environment the players are working in now. McGinnis doesn't understand that now any more than he did then.
