What's untrue about it?
They DID leave talent. Coaching ability was their problem.
I disagree with that too. Not that McVay & co. aren't stellar coaches. But, context. Given the conditions they had---which McGinnis ALSO rightly mentions--there;s a wildcard in this. You demolish McVay's OL, give him #2 caliber qbs, have him move the team, he doesn't do as well. I think that's way too obvious to debate. Similarly, or conversely, give Fisher a Rams team without those conditions, and he does better than he did.
I still maintain that coaching ability was their problem. Lack of that ability is why he got fired.
I don't agree. For one thing that front office group is smart enough to figure out lack of coaching ability long before 5 years. Unless you think they're incompetent too.
People try to deny the "conditions/context" thing but I never see an argument that stands up.
It also doesn't matter. People can say, that's all true and I still dont like him anyway.
Which to me means there's really no good reason to deny the conditions thing.
And remember it cuts 2 ways. Put the same conditions on McVay and he doesn't do as well, which only stands to reason. Give JF a better situation when it comes to the conditions I named and he does better.
That's my vote.
So. We agree to disagree on this?
