I disagree with that too. Not that McVay & co. aren't stellar coaches. But, context. Given the conditions they had---which McGinnis ALSO rightly mentions--there;s a wildcard in this. You demolish McVay's OL, give him #2 caliber qbs, have him move the team, he doesn't do as well. I think that's way too obvious to debate. Similarly, or conversely, give Fisher a Rams team without those conditions, and he does better than he did.
I still maintain that coaching ability was their problem. Lack of that ability is why he got fired.
In response to your point, I'll say what I've said other times we've discussed this. You may very well be right that, given the circumstances, Fisher would have done better. I don't have energy to argue the point.
Frankly, I don't care. And neither did Demoff.
Demoff said that they needed to 'maximize their talent.' That tells me that he didn't feel that they did as well as they should have
despite the unfortunate circumstances. I agree with that sentiment.
