I've got the whole reading comprehension thing down pretty well.
I'm declaring no sale.
It's wasn't a mere mild kind of "hey, you know, maybe this will start to get better for the 49ers in a year or two" tone.
Let me quote a few lines from the article to show what I was reacting to.
"If the Rams are the team people point to as the model, the San Francisco 49ers are followers who are doing it the way the sports media believe they should.
Maybe even better."
Really, they're not just doing it right, they might just be doing it better than right? Yeah, just look at them!"But all that said, the media is all a frenzy with what the Niners are doing, or more importantly, what they may be doing."
The media is in a frenzy over how right an 0-9 team is doing it?! If that's true, they're even stupider than I thought they were. I'm not so sure.Does ANYBODY think the media would be in a frenzy over what the Rams were doing if the Rams were 0 and ******** 9 right now?
Well, they might be in a frenzy, but not the kind he's talking about here."the Niners, who are making all the right moves..."
And the evidence for this is...? Hiring a new coach, trading for a QB, and collecting draft picks proves absolutely zip until it actually begins generating WINS. Lots of teams do it multiple times and just spin their wheels. Do I need to tell Ram fans that?I remember before the season began, reading at least one article, maybe more, about what a high failure rate young head coaches have had for the last decade or more. The implication was that McVay and Shanahan were risks that very likely might not be ready, or ever pan out at their first hire.
So now that McVay appears to be succeeding, and bucking that trend, that proves that the 49ers are suddenly on the right track, too? No, it does not. They may very well be going down the more well-traveled path of young coach failure, and there's nothing to say otherwise right now.
So that's what I found weird. The hyperbole around green fruit growing on an 0-9 tree. And the attempt to link it to the Rams, as if what the Rams were accomplishing somehow validated the 9ers. Phooey on that.
Ramily!
