I get your point.
If they want to write an article about how the 9ers are making some hidden progress beneath the surface and are going to bust out next year, fine.
Seems like it would be better as an offseason article, frankly, than a midseason one. I could just ignore it entirely, it being 9er stuff.
It was conflating their winless ineptitude with what was going on with the Rams success, and trying to sprinkle some of it on the 9ers that made me raise my eyebrows. And I love the Rams and I do not like the 9ers at all, so maybe I just don't want to share anything with them.
One team is getting it done right now. The other one might, maybe, who really knows at this point, get it done next year or the next year.
Why try to make it sound like they're both on target?
Here's my crude analogy: Let's consider a piece of chocolate cake and a dog dropping. They're both brown. The cake tastes good, and the dog dropping might taste good to someone somewhere someday. So cake and dog droppings are the culinary future!
