You’re certainly entitled to your opinion, Suh-weet.
But remember, 81 said that the Rams wouldn’t have won the game but for Tavon. That’s classic hyperbole, man.
Let me ask you a question, and please try your best to be objective in this hypothetical scenario where Tavon couldn’t play in the Cowboy game.
Given the following:
McVay’s creative skills
Goff’s emergence as a QB
Gurley’s dominance on the ground and as a pass receiver
Kupp
Watkins
Woods
Higbee
Everett
Our newfound dominant OL (yes, dominant)
Second half D adjustments
Cooper’s kick return
Brockers’ outstanding play
AD’s outstanding play
The Reynolds block
And on and on and on
Are you of the opinion that the Rams couldn’t or wouldn’t have beaten the Cowboys without Tavon on the field? That none of the above could or would have picked up the slack?
I am of the opinion that somehow the Rams would have found a way. Too many talented, motivated, confident, and well coached players on this team now.
If you feel differently, that’s fine. We can agree to disagree.
... "hyperbole" to suggest that without TA's contributions the Rams might well lose the game. A close game.
And yet among a list of factors you presumably think were meaningful in securing the win you include Reynold's block, Cooper's return, AD's play, Everett (8 yds), Watkins (17 yds), Woods (17 yds)?
So you're going to include among your list of notables Josh Reynolds' block while pooh-poohing the fact that TA was instrumental in the success of the play in the first place?
And you're going to emphasize the possibility that these other players could pick up the slack while dismissing one of the players who ACTUALLY made a serious contribution?
Pick up the slack? You realize that the Rams weren't guaranteed to win that game, right? There's no guarantee that any slack would be picked up in this counterfactual universe where TA doesn't contribute as he did.
One last thought. Taking away the Gurley score, which TA assisted on, the Rams scored 8 times, 7 of them FG's. So what if that play doesn't happen? My best (meaningless) guess: they end up w/3 instead of 7. Think the game might have unfolded differently from there than it did?
