You are not actually responding to what people are saying.
The poster said that the Rams would have lost last week without Austin's decoy value on Gurley's long reception.
You respond by posting year to date stats. How is that relevant to the posters point? It's not.
What is relevant is debating the true value of Austin's presence on the field on that particular play. Would that play have been successful anyway?
If that play wasn't as successful, would they have still won?
IMO, he makes a good point since the fake hand off to TA froze three defenders allowing Gurley to blow by them for the easy score. So I give Austin a lot of credit for the success of that play.
But it's a bit of a stretch to say that the Rams wouldn't have won without that play. Maybe they would have scored a TD on that drive a few plays later. No one knows.
With all due respect, characterizing him only as a RB and discounting the decoy value on that particular play, and many others, doesn't seem to be the most accurate or honest way to gauge his true value.
