If one buys the concept of "put performing a contract" then you should accept the alternative. If a players performance drops below the "contract" then the team should be able to cut their pay! The current salary structure in the NFL is a mess, but I really don't think any new CBA will fix it.

I love incentive laden contracts in team sports!!! Perform and you can rake, fail and you only get the base. Player have such short careers and sustain so much physical damage that those base contracts should be guaranteed!
