my mind does work that way. He signed a contract, obligated himself to play for "X" amount of dollars. He is reneging on his both his word and a legal document. It's an obligation not to just himself but to his team. Sure I blame him. Remind me to never to make a deal with you on a handshake or a contract.
As far as the new contract.. no, I don't blame him because I don't know what he's asking, or what the Ram's are offering.
Thats cool, J. I 'almost' blame him
...but then i start thinking about how the NFL set up everything. The rookie players arent really on an equal footing with the Teams, imho. The players are sorta locked into these new rookie contract deals and its prettymuch take it or leave it. A titanic talent like AD was bound to get the short end of the stick the way the NFL has things set up. (just my opinion)
I mean what if he blows out a knee this year? I am sure that is what he is thinking about.
But i do 'get' the view that "a contract is a contract" and "he gave his word" and all that stuff. I just dont think that kind of thinking really translates to the NFL. I 'do' think it makes perfect sense in other contexts. I think honor matters -- i just dont think it comes into play in this kind of situation. I totally understand other people seeing it differently.
...what if Bela Fleck was just coming into the National Drumming League, as a rookie, and what if the NDL had a rookie-contract
structure that forced Bela to sign a deal way below his talent level? What THEN, Mr. Blamer ?
