It's that he's had only one game in PS or regular season where he hasn't fallen apart. Not counting that brief appearance against Dallas this PS, the only good game Goff has had in PS or RS is th game in Oakland. That's it.
So we've got one game out of how many?
I say call me when he has a good game this season.
Certainly there is definitely reason for concern. But I understand that you can take an optimistic viewpoint and expect all will be well. There were many here, myself included, that felt that way about GRob. Yet there was certainly a reason to be concerned about him from the beginning.
So color me hopeful but concerned. I will feel a whole lot better if Goff has a nice showing against the Colts. TBD.
That all depends on people's explanations for things and how they're seeing it.
And there are different views on all that. There is no universal one way of seeing Goff in 2016.
Meanwhile, my point was this. It had nothing to do with last year. People were high on Goff after Oakland, and then down on him after the Chargers....and the difference is one play.
It is true that that one play kicks in different interpretations of 2016. So people who see 2016 one way will see the One Play that way, and people who see 2016 another way will see the One Play a different way.
Me? I was fine with Goff after Oakland and one play against the Chargers does not change that. For those who go "no it's last year too" I go, we probably see last year differently TOO.
There's no escaping this---we are talking about different, and conflicting, VIEWS. Not a whole lot of this gets down to hard cold set truths yet.
I am willing to throw 2016 out. And I do think it's way overblown how much it influences peoples viewpoint of Goff.
I think its fair to say we don't know yet. Certainly, Goff has talent and ability. He was going to be drafted in the first round regardless of what the Rams did.
The big question is whether he will turn what he has into a viable NFL QB. For me, I haven't seen enough yet to draw any definitive conclusions.
But I think I will have seen enough this season. I don't need another one. He needs to show major improvement over last year. And we can say whatever we want right now, but there is no guarantee that he will.
Remember we both thought GRob was going to be just fine. Obviously, that was just a thought, a hopeful one that didn't pan out.
So color me guardedly optimistic on Goff because of his skill set, natural ability and work ethic, and we have seen flashes, but concerned cause we just don't know and there has been reason for concern.
